Water Damage Lawsuit Filed On Behalf of Texas Homeowner by Heygood, Orr & Pearson

A lawsuit on behalf of an Austin, Texas homeowner whose property suffered water damage and flooding as a result of runoff from his neighbor’s property has been filed by the law firm of Heygood, Orr & Pearson. Court of appeals affirms certification of class action by life settlement investors against Life Partners, Inc.

A life settlement is the sale of an existing life insurance policy by the policyholder (who is typically an ill and/or elderly person) to another party. The policy is sold at a discount to the face amount. The policyholder receives a cash payment while the purchaser takes an ownership interest in the policy. The purchaser then receives the full amount of the death benefit paid out under the policy when the insured dies. Life settlements investments are often purchased by a group of investors who each buy only a fractional interest in a given policy. The purchasers also pay premiums as due to keep the policy in force until the policy matures. Read the full article…

HO&P files Mississippi pain patch lawsuit on behalf of woman who died from fentanyl overdose

In June of 2010, a Mississippi woman’s doctor wrote her a prescription for four 25 mcg fentanyl patches. She had the prescription filled the next day at her local CVS Pharmacy. However, rather than filling the prescription with the 25 mcg fentanyl patches that were prescribed, CVS filled the prescription with four 75 mcg Sandoz patches—three times the dose that the doctor had intended to prescribe. HO&P files wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of Texas man whose wife died when flesh-eating bacteria was not diagnosed

A Dallas, Texas-area woman bumped her arm against a railing one day a couple years ago. She did not immediately experience significant pain; however, over the next two days, her arm gradually swelled, grew increasingly sore and became discolored.
