The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that baby bath seats manufactured by BeBeLove, Buy Buy Baby, and Chelsea & Scott are being recalled because they may place young children at risk of drowning. All three products are manufactured for use by children five to ten months of age.
BeBeLove E-Zee Bath Seats
BeBeLove issued a recall for the company’s E-Zee Bath Seats line after it was determined that the product failed to meet federal safety standards for stability. According to the CPSC, the bath seat can tip over while in use, placing babies at risk of drowning. Approximately 5,600 bath seats are involved in the recall.
Consumers may have purchased the E-Zee Bath Seats from Amazon.com, Diapers.com, Overstock.com, or another online retailer between May 2011 and November 2012. Families with one of the recalled BeBeLove bath seats should contact the company at (888) 464-1218 in order to obtain a refund.
Buy Buy Baby’s Idea Baby Bath Seats
Buy Buy Baby has issued a recall notice for the company’s Idea Baby Bath Seats due to a risk of drowning with the product. According to a CPSC press release, regulators determined that the bath seats failed to meet federal safety standards, prompting the recall. This recall notice involves about 34,000 baby bath seats.
The recalled Buy Buy Baby bath seats were sold from September 2012 through April at Buy Buy Baby and Bed Bath & Beyond stores, as well as online at buybuybaby.com and bedbathbeyond.com.
